Malaysia have eight bowlers at the IBF World Cup 2026 in Munich, and they arrived as defending champions in two events. The tournament runs from 12 to 21 October at Max Munich Bowling in Brunnthal, just outside the city. As of 16 October, singles qualifying is still under way and no medals have been decided. Sin Li Jane leads her pool after an unbeaten opening day, while two Malaysian men are already out of the singles.

Results so far (to 16 October)

These are the Malaysian results we could confirm from the official result sheets on the Asian Bowling Federation site and from Bowlinglife reports. No event involving Malaysia has finished yet. However, the men's singles round-robin is over for two of our four men, because each men's pool sends only its top two to the Top 32.

What the numbers say

Ahmad Muaz was unlucky. In fact, he had the second-best average in his pool, but he won only five of 11 one-game matches, and points decide qualifying, not pinfall. Meanwhile, the Malaysian listed in Group B finished level on 21 points with three others, one win behind the top two.

The women's side looks stronger. According to Bowlinglife, Sin Li Jane was one of four women still unbeaten after the opening day. Also, Malaysia sat second on the women's federation table with 66 points, behind Singapore on 69. The top four in each women's pool reach the Top 32, so Adelia and Nur Hazirah are both inside the cut for now.

A note on names and claims

MTBC's squad list named Tun Hakim Tun Haznul Azam, but the official Group B sheet lists Malaysia's bowler as Tun Ameerul Luqman Al Hakim. We are checking this with MTBC. Also, you may see posts claiming a Malaysian women's team medal. No team event has started yet, so treat those claims as false until the team finals on 21 October.

Still to come

  • Men's singles Groups C and D results, including Rafiq Ismail and Timmy Tan.
  • The second round of women's singles qualifying, with Natasha, Sin Li Jane, Adelia and Nur Hazirah.
  • Singles Top 32 through to the medal matches on 18 October.
  • Team round-robin on 19 and 20 October, then the team finals on 21 October.

We will update this page with the final Malaysian results after the last day, 21 October.

Malaysia's IBF World Cup 2026 squad

MTBC named the squad on 8 October, after a team photoshoot the day before. The men's line-up is the same four who won team gold in Hong Kong in 2025. Meanwhile, the women's side combines two PWBA Tour regulars with a world youth champion and a SEA Games gold medallist.

Form coming in

Rafiq won the Malaysian Open and the KL International Open in June. Sin Li Jane finished third in PWBA points this year, and Natasha reached her first PWBA title match at the USBC Queens in May. Adelia, still a youth bowler, won two world youth golds in Kuching in July. Nur Hazirah, from Sarawak, rolled 245 in the SEA Games team final that Malaysia won in December 2025.

Format and schedule

This is a big field. According to Bowlinglife, 292 bowlers from 48 federations entered: 192 men from 48 federations and 100 women from 25. Singles matches are one-game, head-to-head contests in round-robin pools. Then the top finishers move into a bracket with best-of-three matches. After that, team play uses the baker format, where bowlers take turns frame by frame.

What Malaysia are defending

According to Bowlinglife, Malaysia were the most successful nation at the 2025 World Cup in Hong Kong. On 10 January 2025, Natasha beat Germany's Birgit Noreiks 217-166, 226-169 to become the first Malaysian woman to win the title, according to Free Malaysia Today. Four days later, the men's team beat Puerto Rico 3-2 for the country's first men's team gold. The women's team also reached the final but lost 3-2 to the USA.

So the defending champions in Munich are Malaysia (men's team), the USA (women's team), China's Du Jianchao (men's singles) and Natasha (women's singles).

After the IBF World Cup 2026

Who is in Malaysia's IBF World Cup 2026 team?

The men are Rafiq Ismail, Tun Hakim, Timmy Tan and Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol. The women are Natasha Roslan, Sin Li Jane, Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee and Nur Hazirah Ramli. MTBC announced the squad on 8 October 2026.

What did Malaysia win at the 2025 World Cup?

Has Malaysia won a medal at the IBF World Cup 2026 yet?

No. As of 16 October no medals have been decided in any event. The singles finals are on 18 October and the team events do not start until 19 October, so any claim of a Malaysian team medal before 21 October is wrong. We will add confirmed results to this page after the final day.
